TEAM Western Highlands needs more than K600,000 to send its 420 plus players and officials to participate in November’s PNG Games in Port Moresby.
Team WHP fundraising committee chairman Christopher Bopi said in preparation for the team to travel, they initially  embarked on fundraising drives such as dances and car-washes to reach the amount needed.
He said other fund raising activities included a corporate dinner at Hotel Kimininga on Oct 31  and a walkathon, the Team WHP Walk against HIV/ AIDS on Nov 8.
Some of the proceeds would go to the AIDS Care house in Mt Hagen.
He added that there would be a major concert involving five bands Skwatas, Owa Units, Junior Insects, Texas Allan and Augustine Emil performing one night only at the Port Moresby Country Club next month.
Other activities would also be held in Port Moresby next month.
Bopi said Team WHP was calling on the community to support in either cash or kind.
Team WHP can be contacted via email [email protected] or Bopi on mobile phone 7199 9294.
Currently, the team has only K100,000 donated by the provincial government and with eight weeks remaining before the Games, it is in a  hectic fundraising drive to meet the K600,000 target, according to Bopi.
The 420 member team would participate in 19 sports: basketball, netball, taekwondo, soccer, rugby 7s, league 9s, kickboxing, boxing, lawn bowls, darts, golf and disabled sports.
