Team Yellow registered their first win of the Isuzu National Cup T20 tournament after a superb performance from PNG Barramundis all-rounder Sese Bau saw them beat Team Red by 31 runs on Tuesday. After tasting defeat in Game one on Monday, Isuzu Yellow were keen to bounce back while Red were making their first appearance in this year’s event. Yellow’s Kipling Doriga won the toss and elected to bat opening with young opening pair of Mavara Hekure and Hoge Henao falling to bowler Kabua Vagi. The batting was tough for Yellow with Doriga and Jason Kila struggling and dismissed cheaply along Keith Griffin and the side were in trouble at 5/36.  Norman Vanua (20) and Sese Bau settled in to mount a recovery putting on a 48-run partnership before Vanua was bowled out by Daure Lohia. Riley Hekure (32) came to the crease and with Bau put on another 38 runs before Bau was dismissed for 62 runs with Yellow eventually bowled out for 151 in the 14 overs. The Reds response saw Tony Ura take charge after scoring 62 runs from 30 balls however Bau from team yellow would end his run and collect three wickets to earn the man-of-the-match award. The fall of Ura would give way for team Yellow’s bowlers to finish their opponents with Reds all out for 120 runs in the 18th over.  Tournament director Rodney Maha said the bowlers had dominated the day’s play even though Ura was in great form with the bat.  “I think as the tournament progresses we will see that trend reverse as the batsmen regain form after a long period without much play in the middle,” the tournament director said. The tournament batted off on Sunday.
