A NUMBER of teams were fined for forfeiting their matches in round one of Moresby South Rugby League competition last weekend.
In the A-grade, Sab City Raiders and Korobosea Souths failed to turn up for the season opener.
Newcomers Vabukori Mosquitoes won on forfeit against Koki Eels who did not make it for their Under-20 match at Moresby South Stadium on Saturday.
On Sunday, Joyce Bay Roosters forfeited Southern Sons.
Competition manager Moses Kumbi said forfeits were unacceptable.
“These teams will be handed notices this week to pay their fines before taking the field in round two,” he said.
Kumbi said if a team committed three forfeits during the season, they would be suspended for the remainder of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Vadavada United welcomed newcomers SS Rabbitohs with a 20-4 win on Sunday.
Kinfu Ben, Junior Peter Supa George, Paul Wawa, Martin Peter and Lazarus William coordinated United’s attack to dominate the Rabbitohs defence.
Rabbitohs’ Paul Yol, Hayne Yoba, Jacob Kemi, Alfred Smith and Joseph Yol were valiant in the loss.
In the other matches, reigning champions Taurama Wolfpack beat Two-Mile Pearls 16- 6, Gabutu Dragons crushed Kaugere Seagulls 28-6.
Meanwhile, competition executives have reitirated to club representatives and officials to ensure teams are present for their games.
