TELIKOM has launched its 3G wireless network at Gagidu station in Finschhafen.
Last week’s launch coincided with the district’s unveiling of 112 development projects spearheaded by local member Theodore Zurenuoc.
The  telco’s new facility is known as 3G CDMA (code division multiple Access) network.
More  than 500 people from villages, dignitaries from the local level and Morobe provincial governments and representatives from Telikom were present to witness the event.
Telikom’s head of commercial Xavier Victor lauded Zurenuoc for taking the initiative to promote development in his electorate.
He said involving Telikom’s CDMA telephone services was the right move.
“We have all gathered today to witness Finschhafen’s grand launching of projects including Telikom’s CDMA network.
“This important launch would now see the people of Gagidu station and the surrounding villages of Finschhafen communicating with their family and friends across PNG and the world through our state-of-the-art 3G CDMA wireless network,” Victor said.
“As a nationally-owned company, we are proud to have worked with the Finschhafen administration to provide this important service for our people here,” he said.
