SEVENTH-Day Adventist tele-evangelist Gary Kent  visited prisoners at Buimo jail outside Lae, Morobe, on Wednesday.

Kent, who is the director of the SDA It Is Written television programme in the Oceania region, is on a three-week evangelism crusade in Lae.

Kent said his visit to Buimo was to tell the inmates that although they had broken the laws of the land, they could seek forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

He told the prisoners the story of a notorious criminal in the United States of America who had killed 20 people, including a state governor.

Kent said after a visit by a pastor, the prisoner had accepted Jesus into his life and his death sentence changed to life imprisonment.

He said the prisoner had found freedom in God’s word and became free of guilt.

Kent told the Buimo inmates they could find the same freedom and happiness.

He presented 600 booklets titled Steps to Christ to the prisoners.

Kent said this was the same booklet that was presented to the notorious American prisoner.
