TELIKOM will look to climb the National Capital District Volleyball Association women’s premier ladder when they face Yumi Yet in round five at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre this weekend.
Occupying second spot with three points fewer than Edatec Scorpions (12), Telikom are eyeing victory to stay within reach of the frontrunners. Despite triumphing over Snipers last weekend, coach Mea Yohang told The National that Telikom needed to continue improving to cement a top-two spot.
“We need to put in more effort,” he said.
“What we do at training must translated onto the court. I’m expecting a structured game this weekend if we want to sit atop the ladder.”
Johang said the team were yet to reach their peak this season, but his players continued to show consistency after winning three games so far.
He said training this week was around perfecting the basics.
“I think getting the basics right is all that matters when you want to win a game,” Yohang said.
“Starting from serves to the passing, every little skill is important.
“I’ve being emphasising this every week.”
He said the team would count on last weekend’s standout players in setter Karen Kaiwan and hitter Rawai Gairo to lead their attack.
“I was pleased with their performance last week,” Johang said.
“I believe the rest of the team members will be counting on them to play well against Yumi Yet this weekend.
“Hopefully, everything can go to plan for another win,” said Yohang ahead of their round-five match in Port Moresby.
