THE board of Telikom PNG has created the Telikom Foundation aimed at providing and promoting literacy to underprivileged children in accordance with the national government’s education policy framework.
The foundation was launched at Morata Primary School in Port Moresby yesterday.
During the launch, Telikom Foundation presented three computers with internet access to the school with other promotional items to the 1,600 students.
Telikom Foundation chairman Clark Kuluniasi said Telikom PNG had realised the need to support the underprivileged children in developing them to become good citizens and future leaders of the nation.
“The board established the foundation to serve and meet these needs of our children which is to allow them to have access to quality education,” Kuluniasi said.
He said education was the key to success and prosperity.
Kuluniasi said that the foundation’s vision was to transform the lives of ordinary underprivileged children who had been marginalised in communities and societies of PNG.
“This transformation will be achieved through the foundations promotion of literacy through technology enabled solutions,” Kuluniasi said.
He added that the access to internet through the new computers would boost their learning.
Also present during the launch were other foundation board members, Telikom PNG CEO Peter Loko and other invited guests.
