TWELVE teams are set to take part in the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club’s monthly Telikom Golf Pennant competition with matches to tee off on Feb 25 with the final round on Nov 15.
Telikom PNG has come on board as the major sponsor of the event this year with a sponsorship package totalling K210,000 over two years.
Telikom PNG national retail manager Amos Tepi said: “Telikom will also be fielding a team competing against other corporate teams.
“I also commend the various business houses and corporate entities for there continuous support of this event, with a total of 12 teams taking part in this year.”
PNG Golf Association president Peter Del Monte said corporate events were important for the club in terms of development of junior players and its daily operations.
“We thank Telikom for their eighth year of sponsorship,” Del Monte said.
“The pennant competition is held every month throughout the year it is an opportunity for the club to allow cooperate sponsors to play competitively.
“The competition also allows our junior members to compete in match play events against our top senior members. This helps our juniors in developing their skills for future events. Currently we are working with two of our juniors to hopefully qualify them for the Youth Olympic Games this year.
“This event helps junior development, while allowing our club to host a corporate event building a stronger relationship with the business community,” Del Monte said.
