Telikom gives to Vanimo hospital

Momase, Normal

VANIMO Hospital in Sandaun province is the first institution in the province to have the latest telephone system (PABX) installed.
The new system replaces the former system (BISCOM) which was more than 14-years-old and could no longer meet the hospital’s communication demand.
Telikom Wewak technician Celestine Auirap installed the new system with assistance from technicians in Vanimo.
The hospital’s acting chief executive officer Elias Kapavore thanked Telikom Wewak customer service manager Alois Anton and Telikom PNG for undertaking the project for the hospital and the Sandaun people.
‘There is no standing still at Vanimo Hospital  a lot of tangible developments are happening, hence, communication is vital to complement these changes,” Mr Kapavore said.
In the previous week, the hospital’s new water treatment plant was commissioned by Sandaun Governor Simon Solo.
The hospital now has its own water treatment plant which was locally constructed by the provincial water supply officer, Benjamin Yenil, with technical assistance from John Clemens the water plant manager with Timaru district council in New Zealand.
The new plant draws water which is pumped into a treatment process comprising chlorination, filtration and ultra violet to the reservoir tanks for distribution.
