TELIKOM PNG has launched its online television service, TelikomTV, which has 20 channels.
Chief executive officer Xavier Victor launched it during the PNG SME StartUp Convention in Port Moresby on Tuesday.
The retail price for the set box is K150.
“We have launched several other new services this year, but TelikomTV is probably something that we want to end the year with, and welcome Christmas,” Victor said.
“It is an internet-based service. It is not a normal service that EMTV, TV Wan and NBC provide.
“This is using the internet to deliver the TV service.
“It is only available to your home and office fixed internet services. It is a bandwidth service.
“We are not a broadcaster ourselves.
“We are sourcing all our content from EMTV. That is a company we own,” he said.
“EMTV continues to provide the free-to-air service but we have a commercial arrangement to source this content so that we can deliver that through internet.
“EMTV delivers a lot of other things (such as) free-to-air service, free-to-air television service.
“Our plan is to build on this to make sure that there are other channels that can also be delivered using that platform.”
