Telikom marks 56th year of ops

TELIKOM PNG is marking its 56 years of operations in PNG today.
Established on July 1, 1955  as the Department of Post and Telegraph, Telikom today has more than 200,000 customers.
Telikom chief executive officer Peter Loko thanked all customers both in the past and present including the staff members, who have set the foundation for a proficient company.
He said Telikom today had 1,425 staff nationwide and the number was still growing.
Loko said Telikom was going through a transformation period to deliver data mobility to allow customers access information and communication technology while moving around.
“For our anniversary, we will also announce an honorary CEO for a day that will be a staff that suggests a bright idea to further transform the company,” Loko said.
Telikom PNG promotional offer to mark its 56th anniversary starting today through Sunday allows customers on landline, X’cess and citifon voice services to call family and friends in Australia, New Zealand, India, Philippines, Ma-laysia and China for only 56  toea per minute all day, all night.
For data customers during that same period, when they top up their data account, they get extra 56% free.
