TELIKOM PNG snapped back to win the premiership title in the Public Servants Netball grand finals, defeating PNG Power 27-25 on Saturday at the Rita Flynn Netball courts.

It was tough two-half game between the sides. PNG Power enforcer and goal-shooter Gewa Kepi was a stand-out for her team, managing to shoot baskets while being put under pressure by Telikom PNG defenders.

The electricity suppliers were unable to cut out power from the Telikom women as they came out on court competitive from the first blow of the whistle.

It was a clumsy first half for Power as silly errors were called by the umpire mainly in the midcourt gifting Telikom easy possession.

Power’s defenders Raka Vevato and Wari Vala fought back well in the remaining minutes of the first half, managing to intercept a few balls to get themselves points but Telikom still lead 15-13 at the break.

The second half saw PNG Power coming back with fire, trying to make sure of their shots got them ahead.

Shooters Lua Pinia and Gewa were spot on but that could not stop Telikom from leading.

At the the final whistle, Telikom had the final say, beating Power 27-25 to take home the premiership.

In the division 1 grand final, top team of the division PNGSFOC went down 26-22 to IBS POMGH, who were crowned champions.

In division two, Sports Foundation defeated Bank of PNG 22-15, snatching the title and in division three, National Housing Commission beat Water PNG 23-20.

The competition will resume in October at the Sir John Guise Stadium as the Rita Flynn Netball courts are undergoing major reconstruction work in preparation for the 2015 Pacific Games.
