ESCO Telstars will field its full strength side when it takes on Mermaids in the premier netball challenge in Port Moresby tomorrow.
Coach Lydia Veali said they were not taking the game lightly as they were aware the young Mermaids was a hard team to beat.
Telstars will be calling on its big guns in Gamini Koroka, Mona-Lisa Leka, Emily Maha, Sophie Yaruso, and Mimi Ori, who should take the lead on the Rita Flynn’s netball court on Saturday.
Veali said training had been good and the players had been told to stay focussed on the game on the weekend.
“We went through our mistakes after reviewing our last weekend’s loss against Paramana and the team is ready to take on Mermaids,” she said.
The Mermaids, under coach Emily Taule, have been playing some good netball and will no doubt come out strong against Telstars.
Shooter Rayleen Andrew will certainly stamp her mark under the ring against her older Telstar opponents.
Andrew will be ably assisted by Mary-Paul Biula, while in mid-court the Kapi sisters, Nancy, Kapu and Rachel, hold the key for their team.
The mid-court will ensure the smooth passage of play from one end of the court to the other.
In addition, Taule will rely on seasoned campaigners in Kila Leka-Amini and Rachael Koivi, who will support Andrew.
The game will be an interesting one as the Mermaids want a win to stay in contention, while Telstars need the victory to consolidate their lead.
