Temu backs Aroma Coast league tourney

DEPUTY Prime Minister  Sir Puka Temu has thrown his support behind the Aroma Coast rugby league tournament with a timely sponsorship of K15,000.
The tournament will be held during the Christmas and New Year break.
Sir Puka, who is also Abau MP, said yesterday that he was supporting the event the third consecutive year.
The event will start on Dec 28 and end on Jan 1.
He urged the youths in Aroma Coast villages to take a professional approach when competing to become mature sportsmen in rugby league.
Sir Puka said he was satisfied at seeing some players from the tournament signing up with franchise clubs to compete in the bemobile Cup next season.
“More will be given this golden opportunity in this event. 
“Celebrate peacefully and safely in your communities,” Sir Puka , who is also Minister for Lands and Physical Planning, said.
Tournament director Chris Enara said 28 teams would be vying for the Sir Puka Temu Cup and K2,800 prize money.
The Plate winners will walk away with K1,700 and the champions in the Bowl division will pocket K1,100.
The runners-up for each category will pick up cash and player incentives for outstanding performances during the event.
The teams have been divided into four pools – Pool A will see reigning champions KVV1, Kapi Upuna, EA Brothers, PS, One Garona, K Plus, Iwara KK.
