LAND titles will be given at the Morobe Land Board sitting with run-down National Housing Commission and other state houses to be given away to tenants.
The undertaking was announced by Provincial Lands chairman, Benson Suwang to residents of Salamanda Street last Thursday.
Suwang, who made the announcement on behalf of Governor Luther Wenge, said they would be working closely with the Housing Minister so that the properties were attained by the Morobe provincial government and then forwarded to legitimate home owners.
He said they were sure that the quick handing of these houses would be hastened by reports from health and building inspectors who had condemned the dilapidated structures.
Suwang said all outstanding dues would be written off due to the poor state of the buildings and the matter was now before the Housing Minister for cabinet approval.
The Salamanda/Dowsett community thanked the Governor for championing their case and finally allowing them to own houses they had lived in for years.
