TFF and healthcare

Letters

SINCE the formation of the new government, newspapers have reported many articles regarding the intentions of the prime minister and the ministers on how they intend to reform the activities of departments to new heights and hopefully better manager certain targeted policies, hence giving rise to a recovery path to the staggering economy.
It took five weeks of political ramblings, another three weeks of swearing in, and hand-over rituals and the release of several ministerial statements.
The entire population of Papua New Guinea is yet to receive the grand overall holistic plan as to how the new government will rescue this nation from the weak economy.
In the midst of all these happenings at Waigani; basic services, which matters most to the vast majority of the population continue to deteriorate or come to a stop.
In terms of education and the TFF policy, the previous government made the first quarter payments towards the end of term one, 2019.
When the first payment was released, the previous minister also made note that the second term allocation was to be worked on in the next week.
To-date many schools in the country will be winding up their assessments and sending their students off for an unplanned, ungazzetted term two school break.
What happened to the second allocation of TFF?
While in the health services, the aid -posts, sub-health centres and hospitals are either completely shutting their doors or limiting the types of services that they normally offer to the public.
The inadequate and untimely delivery of medicine supplies is greatly affecting the delivery of basic healthcare to the entire population.
Mind you, this does not affect the leaders because they can afford private healthcare services. Is there are real basic health free care policy?
In short, when will the nation be informed of the grand rescue plan as a whole rather than piecemeal plan?
What were the technocrats and bureaucrats’ doing in the lead-up to the new government formation and now they find it difficult to piece together an alternative plan?
I have no doubts about the composition of the new cabinet with the high calibre of politicians and their professional backgrounds.
From the start, the articulated ideas seem so spirited, but in time the steam can lose its heat and therefore everything dissipates into the thin air and the rest of us will continue to crawl down here at the base level.
Make a start with education (TFF) and basic healthcare.
