TFF committee to be established next month: Kombra

 THE Education Department expects to get the Tuition Fee Free steering committee in place next month to look into TFF policy and operational issues.

Acting Secretary Dr Uke Kombra said nominations had been accepted for the committee following invitations to departments in November last year.

Kombra said he would be the chairman and members would include the secretaries of the Finance, Treasury, National Planning, Prime Minister’s departments.

“Hopefully, in one or two weeks’ time we will be having a meeting with  all the provincial education advisers to look at establishing the district implementation committee and advise them on the new changes in the TFF policy and how they can select a committee,” Kombra said.

“This may take time, and hopefully by March, we cannot do all work at the same time.”

He said the committee would ensure that all school data were properly collected.

He added that one of the committee’s key tasks was to investigate the inflated student enrolment figures.
