The purpose of police, army is to serve the people

THE action by a few soldiers on UPNG students reveals how undisciplined the disciplinary forces are.

Their poor behaviour and lack of professionalism must surely be dealt with firmly.

Are students the greatest enemies of the police and army?

Whenever they see students doing something wrong but minor, they beat them up as though they are wanted criminals or robbers such as William Kapris.

That is not acceptable. It is inhuman to apply corporal punishment on innocent students.

Police and defence force personnel must respect all civilians.

They are trained to serve the people and maintain law and order in our growing nation.

It really looks like the uniformed forces of today are taking the law into their own hands.

In a democracy, police and the armed forces serve the people.
