There is no reason for O’Neill to take over OTML

 THERE is no reason for the Government to take control of OK Tedi mine. 

Why is Peter O’Neill so desperate to take over the mine?

So he can dictate the operations? 

His motives are highly questionable from the outset and he must immediately take his hands off from a private entity owned by villagers who know little or nothing about the intentions of this government. 

They are ordinary people living in the village, not like the governor or the prime minister living in high places who have the power to dictate what belongs to them. 

The mine is in safe hands of PNG Sustainable Development Program (PNGSDP) and as far as I know, there nothing is wrong with it.

The landowners have spoken on the front page of The National, so let it be, O’Neill (Sept 26).

He must get his hands off the mine and contrate on how to tackle corruption in this country.

Successive governments that  have used the same tactics to deceive the people of Papua New Guinea such as the People’s Democratic Movement and the National Alliance have never survived. 

So the coalition government of PNC must listen to the small people in the village rather than trying to grab what does not belong to the government. 

After all, the people have spoken so the prime minister and governor of Western must listen to the villagers. It should also apologise publicly to Sir Mekere Morauta and David Sode which is the honourable thing to do. 

These people have built their reputation and credibility over time with track record and must be respected.
