THE Wewak Urban Local Level Government in East Sepik has a new town manager.
She is Theresa Goldman, former Turubu LLG manageress who served in that position for the past 14 years.
In a small ceremony outside the Wewak Town Commission office on Monday, Mayor Peter Saun farewelled acting manageress Maryanne Mosoro and welcomed Goldman in the presence of his councillors, senior provincial government officers and presidents of Wewak Local and Turubu LLGs.
Saun commended Mosoro for her time, commitment and dedication in the past 21 months she served as acting manager.
He pledged his continued support for Goldman, who took over the job this week.
He said Wewak Town had the capacity to generate more revenue but a lack of proper financial accountability had hindered progress of the commission for some time.
He expressed confidence in the new management in continuing the good work left behind by Mosoro to bail the commission out of its financial doldrums.
Wewak local government president Francis Hevu described Goldman as an experienced manager whose departure would create a gap for the Turubu LLG.
Turubu LLG president David Kausik urged the mayor, his councillors and the commission workers to give Goldman the support she deserved so that they worked together to change the face of Wewak, the provincial capital of the province.
