HISTORY is going to repeat itself when Morobe meets Manus in the soccer grand final of the PNG Games for the third consecutive time.
It has been a Morobe versus Manus affair in soccer since 2005 PNG Games and they never turned back until this year’s PNG Games.
Morobe always triumphed over Manusian, and this will be a chance for Manus to spoil
their party.
Tournament director for soccer Taku Niebo confirmed last night that it was all Morobe and Manus affair in the past two PNG Games and it will be the third when they play today for gold.
Manus booked the first grand final berth when they defeated pre-match favourites Central in the penalty shoot-out 3-1 after both the regular and the extra time was scoreless.
Morobe displayed their class after coming from behind to beat the boys from Karanas land, New Ireland 4-3.
New Ireland will now play Central for the bronze medal.
In the women’s final, the reigning queens of soccer, Morobe will play West New Britain while NCD will take on Bougainville.
Morobe defeated NCD in a penalty shoot-out while West New Britain had too much class for their NGI neighbours, Bougainville 2-1.
Niebo appealed to all soccer followers of the game to support their team in true spirit of sportsmanship as this was part of exposing grassroots players for the possibility of playing in a National Soccer League club.
