A GROUP of 37 people received certificates in managing climate change projects in Port Moresby last Friday.
Climate Change and Development Authority managing director Ruel Yamuna said the participants underwent a “tailor-made” training.
“It’s a tailor-made training, education and technical skills that we’ll be requiring in the future,” he said. The course was jointly run by the authority and USAID and is certified in other parts of the world.
Eighteen were from government agencies, nine from the private sector and 11 from non-government organisations. The course was for four months.
“The course aims to produce key capacity to leaders to strengthen PNG resilience against extreme weather events and national disasters,” USAID’s deputy chief of missions Bernie Link said.
Link said to ensure funding from international bodies were used well, projects should be well managed and implemented.
