SAMARAI-Murua MP Isi Henry Leonard will ask police to arrest public servants interfering with his efforts to address the Covid-19 pandemic in the electorate in Milne Bay.
“These people in Port Moresby and Misima Island will be arrested and charged with breaching the Covid-19 state of emergency rules,” he said.
He said one had been arrested and charged in Port Moresby and now facing committal proceedings at the Waigani District court.
Leonard yesterday delivered K3 million worth of equipment and items to address the Covid-19 problems in the electorate.
He said some people failed to realise the long processes an MP had to follow to provide government services, especially in isolated maritime electorates such as his.
“These leaders and public servants accuse me on social media saying I’m wasting my time in Port Moresby,” he said.
“And when I want to take the district development authority chief executive officer Wilson Hilary to Port Moresby from Bwagoaia station on Misima island with some district treasury officers on a chartered plane, these leaders and public servants went to his house and prevented him from going to Port Moresby to help clear documents.
“Some of these people accusing are educated leaders who understand the state of emergency.
“So I will be bringing police to Bwagoaia to arrest them. I will also sideline public servants and be investigated for breaching the state of emergency rules.”

  • Go ahead member! Let the police arrest them and put them to court. And send them to prison. That deserve to live here.

  • Job Well done Hon. ISI H Leonard, you are a real fighter, and a Leader who’s heart is with your people. So far you have done a marvelous job for your people and the Electorate. Eradicate those arrogant people, they are the obstacle for the progress of the development in the district. One as already facing the Law now, get to the root and expose them and they will face justice. So far so good. Once again, well done Hon. Isi H Leonard. You are the true son of the people of Samaria Murua.

  • The leader is trying his very best to deliver in such very difficult electorate like Samarai Murua.
We have 4 LLGs each LLG is far from each other.
I hope people who are interfering with the SOE preparedness must be felt accordingly.

  • District like Samarai Murua are not that in high risk of Covid 19, therefore I don’t see any reason why the MP is spending K3M on the operations of Covid, instead he should look at other areas where it needs immediate attention.
The fact that the district has not reported any case, nor does it is in higher possibility of virus contraction.
Hence, there is no point at all to spend such huge money on addressing Covid 19, instead use the funds wisely by disposing them on infrastructural development and other basic services that are lacking in the district.
