A FATAL car accident at Kandep in Enga province over the New Year weekend claimed three lives and several others were hospitalised.
Provincial police commander Supt Michael Chare said the driver of the 15-seater bus was under the influence of alcohol and loaded with passengers headed for Kandep from Wabag.
Supt Chare said between Laiagam and Kandep the driver lost control and the vehicle skidded off the road and rolled over several times.
He said three died instantly and others were hospitalised at the Wabag General Hospital.
Supt Chare said the driver of the 15-seater bus was still at large and police are now looking for him.
He warned PMV driver not to drink and drive as the lives of the passengers were in their hands.
He also warned the public not to get on PMV buses or trucks driven by drunkards.
Meanwhile, MS6 from Mt Hagen, now based in Porgera, are working around the clock to apprehend suspects involved in the killing of a headmaster in Porgera.
Supt Chare said angry relatives staged several roadblocks but police intervened to clear them.
