THE National Executive Council has appointed three members to join the Accident and Investigation Commission led by former acting judge Nemo Yalo, a cabinet minister says.

Civil Aviation Minister Davis Steven said the commission included Yalo as Chief Commissioner, Capt Minson Peni and Micah Mas as commissioners.

He said the commissioners came with great experience, which would help the commission.

He said Yalo was an acting judge and legal counsel to the Ombudsman Commission. Peni was a continuing commissioner. He was one of the first Papua New Guinean pilots and a flight instructor.

He said Mas had extensive experience in the industry. From flight services, he made his way up to become search and research officer.

“It gives me comfort when there are instances of accidents in the sector. This indicates that the government is responding to such incidences to build capacity and provide leadership,” Steven said.
