Tigers flex on Isou in NFS showdown

THE Lae Tigers flexed their muscles on a willing but out-gunned Gulf Isou to the tune of 32-12 in their Round 6 Digicel Cup clash at the NFS on Sunday.
A sleek Tigers outfit littered with former and current Hunters handled what the Isou threw at them and rattled off four tries to Joe Joshua, a brace to John Andy, and Butler Morris, for a 22-12 lead at halftime.
Rugged Isou back-rower Benji Kot (14th minute) and centre Ray Watt Vincent (21st) crossed for the home side with five-eighth Yunny Patrick slotting both conversions.
The Tigers kept the Isou scoreless in the second half which pleased coach Stanley Tepend.
The Tigers added another two tries to bank another two competition points and maintain their top-two spot on the ladder and along with No.1 side the Agmark Gurias are unbeaten so far.
Former Hunter Joshua claimed the man-of-the-match award for a great all-round performance from fullback which included a try, an assist and several line breaks as well as try-saving tackles.
Tigers centre Morris scored his second in the 58th minute and Roderick Tali scored a four-pointer with two minutes remaining on the clock as the Morobe men made it six from six to start the 2019 season.
