Time for a change

Letters

FIRST of all I wish to congratulate all the new police intake this year.
Police is one of the key government departments in any country and they have two major functions – to uphold the law and to ensure security.
In PNG, cases of police brutality are on the rise.
This has led to people not having faith in the police. They see police officers as criminal, thieves and bad people rather than their protectors.
As new recruits and the new faces of the police department you must not follow the same path your predecessors followed.
You need to change the style and the process that they used in the past.
You need to regain the trust of every Papua New Guinean by following the correct and proper protocols of the police force.
Never take bribes, do not practise nepotism, do not steal, do not assault people.
You must follow the guidelines and do your job diligently with trust and honesty.
