Time for a change, PNG

Letters

PAPUA New Guineans need more exposure.
As a young nation in the process of development, I have found that 75 per cent of the population still needs mental development.
When you go overseas, you will hardly find anyone throwing rubbish carelessly but in PNG, even PhD holders throw rubbish or spit betel nut anywhere, anytime.
Take a careful look at the Hunters rugby league team. Years of exposure have lifted their standard and level of play to allow them to be competitive internationally.
I believe the people of PNG need more international and cross-cultural exposures to be able to learn and change.
Education can change the way people think, but exposure will do more if it is to be made to go hand-in-hand with education.
Our people need mental and attitudinal development to take us forward.
