Time for Nuku people to end struggles
The National, Tuesday February 24th, 2015
NUKU has been seriously lacking in basic services and the people have been abandoned for many years.
It is time the MP call for an immediate audit for the number of projects going on in the district and take into account many other areas of development that is in critical need, such as education and health services as well as community and social obligations.
Authorised personnel must conduct investigations, project evaluations and seriously deal with administrative matters.
MP Joe Sungi must warn contractors to carry out their jobs properly, or he will have the authority to cease their contracts.
We have had enough of problems and struggles in our daily lives since independence and do not want to live in isolation and be regarded as a ‘back page’ district anymore.
I am also extremely disappointed in the current district administrator, who is incompetent in carrying out his duties.
He must officially vacate the public office and authorise someone who is capable of facilitating and directing the district administrative affairs with effectiveness and quality.
Furthermore, Nuku people are facing a drop in cash flow due to the cocoa pot bora affecting hectares of cocoa trees.
The district’s department of agriculture and livestock division, the administration and the MP must find alternatives to address this issue.
Leaders of the day must unite, get to the root cause of the problems, look for better solutions and do it right the first time with effective resource management to maintain project sustainability and service delivery in Nuku.
