Time our govt improves salary package of teachers

THE free education policy is a relief for many parents.
Otherwise, education would only be for those who can afford it as the cost of living has increased tremendously.
Thus far, not many people have condemned this policy as they do not have any alternative even though it is draining our state’s coffers.
Free education does not motivate teachers but a good salary package will.
Teachers are among the most lowly paid public servants in PNG.
If it was not for a teacher, many of our leaders such
as Peter O’Neill, Sir Michael Somare, Don Polye, Bel­den Namah and others would not have been educated.
It is time the government looks into improving our teachers’ salary package.
