PROMINENT people are dying prematurely from lifestyle diseases.

People at the prime of their life and career suffer from by heart problems, kidney disease, brain tumor, mouth cancer, diabetic, gout and many other infections which resulted from unhealthy lifestyles.

It costs a lot of money to educate our elite and for them to be knocked out by this public health problem is a cause for concern.

Something needs to be done to address and minimise this burning fire from engulfing our populace.

In our big towns and cities, public servants, private sector employees, and many others are overweight and obese. This exposes them such diseases.

Eating unhealthy food, drinking alcohol, betel nut chewing, and smoking as well as lack of physical exercise, are factored into life style disease.

However, there are few people who practice good health and live longer.

With improved economic condition of our country, more money is pouring in and get into the pocket,. When there is more money in the pocket people  tend to abuse and misuse hence end up at the wrong end of their life.

We are what we eat and must be very careful on what we put into our mouth every day. What goes into the mouth shapes our physical body. Food that is tasted sweet inside the mouth and tongue is hated by the stomach.

The longevity of life is sustained through healthy food, pure water and fresh air.

The problem with elite Papua New Guineans today is that; they simply do not eat healthy diet, enough water and fresh fruits and vegetables.

All stakeholders, NGOs, and government agencies should pull their resources together to counter life style sickness. And health professionals should take the lead to fight this silent killer.

When workers are healthy and in good health, their performance and output increase.

Remember, we carry Mr death around in our pocket every day and if we are not careful, he jumps out and drag us into his home.
