Time to address poor use of English

Letters

I READ the Friday’s editorial titled ‘Address poor use of English’ and I agree that the poor use of English language by our students and graduates need to be addressed.
I teach in a secondary school and even grade 12 students can’t speak and write good English.
I find that English is poorly spoken in workplaces as well.
I have written and published eight books already.
I am currently working on five new books.
One of the five books is about poor English language usage from a teacher’s point of view and possible solutions.
As a writer, I blame Tok Pisin because it has the potential to destroy languages in the country.
In fact, many PNG languages died out because of the usage of PNG Tok Pisin.
I will be happy for us to discuss further on this topic.

  • Maybe start with addressing the quality of every school Library. We can start with that Today. Tomorrow we look at the English Teacher Training Modules. Then the after Implementation. But to every parent – reading should start NOW.
