Time to get rid of thugs from Morobe
The National – Tuesday, March 15, 2011
I REFER to the letter “Lae thugs need to be taught a lesson” (The National, March 11) by “Fed-up Morobean”.
I am a sad Morobean who no longer feels safe in my own land and city.
I recall during my schooldays in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Lae was one of the safest places in PNG.
We could either walk to school or catch a bus without being harassed.
I believe it is time to mobilise all Morobeans from all the districts to clean up the city.
We cannot sit back and see our families being harassed, intimidated or even murdered.
Morobeans are peaceful people and I think that has worked to our disadvantage because we have allowed all sorts of pigs and dogs to settle on our land.
It is important to identify these thugs before clearing them from their respective settlements.
The police in Lae are handicapped and will not do anything to improve the situation on the ground.
Therefore, it is every Morobean’s duty to get rid of these thugs.
