Time to recall Milne Bay

TWO years ago, we had a vessel called mv Milne Bay Peninsula operating be­tween Port Moresby, Alo­tau, Oro Bay, Lae and Kimbe.
It was a world-class cargo and passenger ship.
Unfortunately, protests were made to the NMSA and other relevant authorities which resulted in the withdrawal of service by Milne Bay after only one month in operation.
The Rabaul Queen tra­gedy should be haunting those selfish people.
I believe it is appropriate to recall the Milne Bay, if it is still using that name, to provide an alternate shipping service.
I call on the minister for transport to do something because the Kimbe-Lae route is the most travelled by many people compared to other shipping routes.
