Time will change people’s mindset

Letters, Normal

THE reserve seats bill that is about to be tabled in parliament lacks depth and foresight.
It is not in the best interest of our country’s constitution and national goals.
PNG is a young nation at 35 years, not 100 or more.
Many democratic countries today took more than a hundred years to change their traditional mind set when it comes to gender equality and, in the end, established vibrant societies without fear or favour on gender and age issues.
Any preferential amendments, like creating reserve seats for women in parliament either through nomination or election, will only make our women folks appear second class.
Let time change our people’s mindset and stigma.
We cannot run without learning how to walk first.
Our national goals and constitution at present is spot on with no gender disparity and segregation.
