MINISTER for Lands and Physical Planning Justin Tkatchenko says Waigani is shaping up to be a commercial hub in Port Moresby.
Tkatchenko noted this during the ground-breaking ceremony of the K296 million Range View precinct last week.
He said the development would benefit investors and the public.
The Range View Precinct, once complete in late 2020, is expected to have a two commercial buildings that will also feature shops operating in a mall setting.
“The Waigani area will be a second city of Port Moresby.
“There is already a lot of work being done in this part of the city that shows the commitment we have for making Waigani and Port Moresby as a whole a good place to live and do business in.
“That is rezoning and relooking at the boundaries where the city will expand for the benefit of business partners and importantly for our residents creating both business opportunities and employment, as well generally investment in our country.”
NCD Governor Powes Parkop said similar joint ventures were being looked at where they would put up land for equity in projects with business partners.
