Toddler’s parents seeking financial help

A toddler is fighting for his dear life at the Port Moresby General Hospital after being diagnosed with severe brain tumour.
Five-year-old Mcdalaka Kewa, from Baiyer River in Western Highlands, was a healthy child until a year ago when a tumour developed.
Kewa was taken for an urgent operation at Port Moresby General Hospital to remove the tumour in April.
PMGH surgical registrar Dr Benjamin Thomas said Kewa’s condition was deteriorating due to an increase of cerebro spinal fluid in the brain after the operation.
He said the fluid acted as a cushion to protect the brain and the spine.
Thomas said the chance of tumour re-growth was “very high” unless the child went for further surgical operation and radiotherapy treatment overseas.
He said Kewa needed urgent surgery by specialists overseas and appealed to the public to make financial contributions.
Kewa’s parents are health workers at the St John’s Ambulance Hospital at Gerehu, Port Moresby.
“We would like to make an appeal to his friends and relatives who want to make a financial assistance can do so through McDalaka Kewa Medical Fundraising BSP account number: 9437004139783,” Thomas said.
