SENIOR government minister Tommy Tomscoll has joined the

ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) party.

Tomscoll, the Agriculture and Livestock Minister and Middle Ramu MP, resigned from the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) party to join Prime Minister Peter O’Neill’s party at the invitation of the prime minister.

PDM is a minor coalition partner and is headed by Western Highlands Governor Paias Wingti, one of three

former prime ministers in the current Parliament.

Tomscoll’s first secretary Tande Tamane said the minister handed in his resignation to the PDM party president on Monday.

“We are waiting for the party executive of PDM to formally release him and a formal invitation from the president of PNC.

“The minister has resigned from PDM for formalities to take place.”
