JIWAKA Governor Dr William Tongamp has thanked the people for showing their maturity and patience while he faced five different court battles.

Tongamp said he was sorry that he did not spend enough time with his people.

Tongamp said some projects planned for this year had to be delayed.

He said two of the court cases had been thrown out by the court.

The three left included an election petition filed against him, a contempt charge and an arson case relating to the burning of the Jiwaka provincial seat ballot papers.

He said the court cases were distracting him from serving the people by providing basic goods and services.

“I want to assure the people that while some projects are already off the ground such as the Minj-Gamar Road, Kenndu-Nondugl Road, Sipil-Jimi border, construction of new education centre in Minj and the construction of three bridges at Sigmil, Kupa and Las Wari, more will follow soon” he said.
