Tongamp’s top of the class

JIWAKA provincial education board deputy chairman Paul Pap has lauded Governor Dr William Tongamp for taking education in the province to the next level.
Pap made this remark on Friday at St John’s Border Primary School, at the border of Jiwaka and Chimbu, during the school’s celebration of its first grade 8 students.
“In the past parents have shouldered a lot of burden to send their children to boarding schools out of the province,” he said. “This has all changed when Tongamp came into power.
“We now have our own new secondary and high schools in the province.
“Jiwaka now has a home-grown education system where students do not have to go out to the other provinces to go to school.
“Ownership and responsibility is given back to the community to look after the schools.”
