TO see our Lae MP and Minister for Religion, Youth and Community Development Loujaya Toni on EMTV on Jan 28 brought a feeling of honour in my household.
Morobeans must be proud of the commitment our member has shown in the short time she has been in power.
The hardship that she had to go through, stand-ing for elections as a woman and against her uncle Bart Philemon as well as putting her family ties on the line, showed her ambition and determination.
The votes she received from the people clearly showed they wanted a change and the confidence they have in her.
Morobe has been facing law and order problems due to the lack of community development.
Our prime minister could not have picked a better candidate than To-ni for the ministry.
Her financial assistance to the Bumbu police barracks in Lae to improve their facilities is
one step to mend the relationship between the authorities and the community.
The new gymnasium could also be used by outside sports groups under the supervision of the authorities.
Respect and cooperation must come from both sides for this relationship
to succeed as it is of great importance.
With the help of our Lae member, business houses and the public, this respectable relationship can be formed and developed.
