MINISTER for Religion, Youth and Community Development Loujaya Toni has urged women and community groups to establish proper bodies so that they get more support from the government and development partners.
She was in the Chuave district, Chimbu, recently with her two fellow female MPs Julie Soso (Eastern Highlands) and Delilah Gore (Sohe).
Also with them were Chuave MP Wera Mori and Chimbu Governor Noah Kool to launch the Chuave district women’s council.
She applauded the    Chuave women under president Margret Melton for establishing the group.
Toni gave K10,000 to the group on top of K150,000 from Mori and K10,000 from Soso.
Soso said when she was president of the Eastern Highlands council of women, it was a norm for MPs to neglect
them.
“I thank the Chuave MP for supporting the women to establish their council where they can get help to support their programmes and developments,” Soso said.
Gore said it was the first time for the three female MPs to come together.
“I thank Mori for bringing us together to demonstrate how united we are so members of Chuave women’s council must work to achieve their visions and dreams,” she said.
