PROVINCIAL police chiefs and their administrative officers have been advised to start preparing their budget for next year.

Superintendent Regi Neggi from the police corporate planning section and budget officers Michael Saun and Jerry Pais were in Lae last week to educate provincial police commanders and provincial administrators from the Highlands and Mamose regions about the new action plan and budget formalities.

Neggi said their plan must be linked to the budget and not separated.

“We have moved away from the traditional ways of doing our budget,” he said..

“That was doing the work plan away from the budget. Now we’re tying them and they must complement each other.

Budget officers Saun and Pais said the budget must be realistic and must be relevant to what the provincial police commanders put down in the work plan.

The week-long workshop conducted at the Momase regional training centre at Bumbu police barracks in Lae was what most police commanders and their administrative officers were looking for.

The two new provincial police commanders Supt Simon Niggi (Jiwaka) and Hela’s Supt Jimmy Onopia were the only two provincial police heads who attended the workshop.
