Top four make women’s Super League play-offs
The National, Friday September 13th, 2013
THE top four women teams in the Port Moresby Women’s Super League are confirmed for the final play-offs despite the outcome of their matches this weekend.
The teams confirmed are minor premier, Mungkas, which is leading the competition with 28 points, Guria on 18, Rapatona on 17 and University on 15.
The only match worth watching this weekend will be the Rapatona and Guria clash.
Both teams have been struggling and their form has been inconsistent.
Rapatona has some of the best women players running around Bisini Park but they have to prove their potential during the match.
Striker Deslyn Siniu, pictured above, Lydia Barnabas and Cathy Horris are some of the big names who will ensure Rapatona wins the match.
Guria has veteran Miriam Lanta, pictured, and Jacqueline Chalau who are capable of leading their charges against the Manusians.
In the other women’s Super League match, University will be out to revenge their 2-0 loss in the second round against Moonbi.
University have some players, who need to show greater commitment in training to maintain fitness in games.
In the men’s Super League tomorrow, University must take note of PS Rutz re-emergence as they shocked Rapatona 2-1 last week.
If they are not careful, former international Paul Komboi will make the boys from Waigani walk all over the park.
Blue Kumuls should continue their winning run against Momase. Ageless warrior Ken Gule is the man for Blue Kumuls along with Tagaya Watson.
Super league competition leaders Cosmos should have a easy run against Maclaren.
Coach John Mogi with his co-coach Joe Turia should find the perfect combination to win this match.
On Sunday, Defence is tipped to beat Hard Rock, while Yamaros should beat Mungkas.
