CommONwealth Games silver medalist weightlifter Dika Toua made a surprise visit to Tatana Primary School and challenged students to develop good habits if they want to be a champion like her.
“Sports involve healthy diets and good discipline,” Toua told more than 100 students.
“We weighlifters eat and live healthy because we compete in weight categories.”
Toua, joined by her sister Thelma, spoke about the benefits of sports in avoiding lifestyle diseases.
Toua shared her experience of being an athlete competing at the highest level. Toua said although she was disappointed about not winning gold, she was glad to win a medal at the Games.
“If you want to be an athlete, you must have discipline do the right thing and who knows, one day you might be a champion,” she said.
She encouraged students to continue playing the sport they were interested.
“You can be the best in whatever you do if you put your mind into it,” the Hanuabada woman said.
Toua encouraged students to eat lots of fruits and vegetables because they were high in energy.
