TOUCH Football PNG has dropped half of the team that represented the country at the Coffs Harbour Australian National Championship for not performing.

Papua New Guinea was given a hiding by overseas teams in that tournament.

The national body has gone for rural players in David Aruha, Morgan Jaruga and Jay Kaha Higaturu (Oro), Philip Lale (Goroka), Jerard Taso, Albert Suri (Kainantu),  Norman Steven, Norman Vovona (Lae), Marlon Steven (Madang), Junior Lilibur (Kokopo) Willie Joe (West New Britain) and Henry John (Kavieng).

The women’s squad has Janet Pariso (K92), Monica Teit, Roselyn Timothy, Mary Marlon, Maurin Bonje, Patiyoko Apiganase (Madang) and Pauline Braun (Goroka), while the rest are from the three city associations Corporate, Industrial and Central.

The squad that failed to shine in Coffs Harbour was dominated by the three city associations.

The squads are preparing for the Asia Regional Championship in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia, from June 6-10.
