The National – Wednesday, March 16, 2011
THE number of teams participating in the Port Moresby Corporate Touch football competition has increased with a number of new teams this season.
Touch football president John Bonot said there were several business houses showing interest in participating in the competition.
He said it was pleasing to see employers, employees and their families participating and making it a fun-filled weekend.
Bonot added players intending to participate should be working and associated with a team or a club in the competition.
PNG Media opened the season on a high note last weekend, registering two wins.
They beat National Fisheries Authority 5-0 in the open women’s division and, also defeated their opponents 4-2 in the mix division.
However, PNG Media, led by John Dau, went down to NFA 2-1 in a close tussle in the open men’s division.
In another exciting encounter, Hornets, an all-women’s side, outclassed Post PNG 5-1 in the open women’s category and continued their superb form in the mix division dishing out a 4-3 defeat.
But, they did not have enough firepower, going down to Post PNG 4-3 in the open men’s match.
Bank South Pacific proved too strong smashing Trukai Rice 10-1 in the open women division.
