Tourism needs support: CEO
THE PNG Tourism Promotion Authority (TPA) needs more support from the Government to improve tourism in the country, an official says.
Chief executive officer Eric Uvovo compared the Government’s support for tourism as “a single drop of water into the ocean”.
He said tourism was a significant sector that needed immense support and investment.
“We hope the Government can increase their budget for tourism in the years ahead because funding is a big problem in terms of marketing and developing our products,” Uvovo said.
“The Government needs to meaningfully invest in tourism so the authority (TPA) can reach down to the provincial and district levels to further develop tourism.
“We are still waiting for the stimulus package from the Government which has yet to come about.”
