The eight-team men’s tournament will kick off tomorrow and end with the finals on Friday.
The teams, from Kaparoko, participate in the Koupa Soccer Association competition.
The association comprises of teams from Kaparoko and neighbouring villages along Beagle Bay and Rigo coast.
Association president Morea Vavine said the tournament was organised to launch the club which will participate in the competition from next season.
The club, which comprises of players between the ages of 18 and 23 years old, is keen on developing young talents into good citizens and top-level footballers.
Chief is owned and sponsored by the association president’s son Morkie Vavine Jr.
Vavine said since it was a Papua New Guineas Football Association-sanctioned tournament, teams from neighbouring villages would not be allowed to take part as per the Covid-19 protocols.
“You have to have good management for the club to perform and prosper in football,” Chief said in a statement.
Vavine Jr (president), Lillian Vavine (vice-president), Dianne Naime (team manager), Olive Vavine (assistant team manager), Naime Kepi (coach) and Reggie Kepi ( assistant coach) make up the club management.
