THE Catholic Archdiocese of Port Moresby and the Diocese of Townsville, Australia, will sign an agreement next Sunday in Port Moresby for a sister relationship programme between the dioceses.
Archbishop Bishop John Ribat said the signing would allow for the two dioceses to run education, family health and counselling programmes in Port Moresby.
Media officer Sister Virgie Gayon said the theme of the event, which takes place on Aug 5, was “faith in action though communion”.
She said there would be a cultural show and an exchange of gifts after the mass at the Don Bosco Technological Institute.
An organiser of the event, Father John Willio said the contingent from the Townsville diocese was expected to arrive in PNG on the Aug 3.
He said they were yet to receive a confirmed list of the number of people travelling to Papua New Guinea.
He said the signing would also pave the way for the two dioceses to carry out an exchange programme for training, share ideas and run pastoral programmes.
